1st 30 Days in Network Marketing

Since 1996, my wife Lisa and I have been profitably serving two primary niches…

  • New/Active/Frustrated Network Marketers, and
  • People Looking to Make Money from Home Online

Back in March 2018, we started looking to EXPAND our reach into these markets by finding any new COMMUNITIES, groups, blogs, influencers, etc., we could align ourselves with and in that research process we stumbled onto Wealthy Affiliate.

So I signed up as a free member in March, made a note to check it out more thoroughly and…

Promptly forgot about it.

Because that is how real life goes sometimes, doesn't it?

You Signed Up. Now What?

One of the most powerful things I have noticed over the years is the GLARING REALITY that whatever YOU deem important in YOUR life… you schedule.

  • You make time for it.
  • You set time aside for it.
  • You invest in it.
  • Set your clock for it.
  • Mark your calendar.

I upgraded to Premium first week of May and scheduled 1.5 hours per day, 5 days a week, towards moving WA forward – WITHOUT any idea, really, what that “moving WA forward” might look like down the road.

On May 1, 2018, I plunk my butt in the seat and clicked the GET STARTED button to update our profile, added a pic and share income goals.

From there I knew I wanted to go through the two primary trainings as fast as possible, meaning I wanted to know the WHAT was being taught without really EXECUTING on the training. Kinda like reading a text book through one time first… THEN going back and executing on it step-by-step.

The REASON is to help you make better decisions NOW (because you know what is coming uphead) versus being blind-sided later without knowing it was coming. Meaning?

Think about it this way.

The Online Certification Class teaches a niche BLOGGING MODEL which requires a massive amount of research and WRITING. So how are your writing skills, exactly?

The training suggests you produce AT LEAST 12 new blog posts per month. Each post can take a good 2-4 hours each. Do you even have that much time available to build your business? If not, BLOGGING might not be your best option.

Complete Training Certification Courses

So one of my goals in the 1st 30 days was to complete BOTH of the primary trainings – watch each video, answer the questions and participate WITHOUT doing any real work like actually writing the articles, etc…. and we ACCOMPLISHED that.

Purchased Domain, Hosting, Blogs

During the Online Entrepeneur Certification I used a domain (miraclematters.com) we already had to set up a new blog with SiteRubix hosting. Set up was easy and non-eventful and the idea for this niche blog… IF… we decide to build it out will serve the “spiritual development” niche.

For the WA Affiliate Bootcamp we PURCHASED a new domain (90minutesuccess.com), set up a new blog, installed a few premium plugins and started fleshing out the blog with a few introductory posts with the goal of encouraging visitors to check out WA.

I also tested out the CONTENT WRITER to see what that was all about and tested how well the duplicate content checker worked and… WOW!

Pretty powerful.

Asked Questions, Offered Blog Comments & Reviews

Every day I also made it a point to participate within the community by asking questions, answering questions, welcoming new members, posting comments on people's blogs to earn credits, offering web site review for credits and… basically… just checking things out and honestly participating.

Redeemed Credits for Comments

One of the most frustrating things for most new bloggers is… even after spending HOURS getting everything up and running and making your first few blog posts… your blog still looks and feels NEW because there are no comments, likes or shares.

And no one like to be the first one, right?

So I decided to cash in a a few of the credits we earned to get 5 new comments on each of the three new blogs I posted. Pretty cool trade. Win-win for everyone!

One Social Media Post Per Day

On May 4th I started making ONE POST to one of our Facebook pages, Google+ and Twitter accounts per day we worked. Nothing automated. One completely MANUAL post.

Once we started promoting daily, the clicks and FREE SIGN UPS started to trickle in and we got our first PAID REFERRAL on May 8th though, to be fair, this was a WARM MARKET referral. Meaning, I have a relationship with this person. I know them. They know me.

4 Days of Solo Ad Traffic

Over the years I've used inexpensive soload traffic to TEST different things without any expectation of producting a PROFITABLE result. Meaning… for the most part… I've found soload traffic pretty much sucks.

BUT I do use it every now and then to test things out and recently wanted to know the BEST TIME OF DAY to send emails to get the most clicks and decided to promote WA while running a short test to determine best time of day to send emails for clicks:

56 WA Referrals, 7 Premium Upgrades

Most of our REFERRALS and SIGN UPS can be tracked back the DAILY social media posts made, not the soload campaign. Though the soload campaign did pick up a few FREE MEMBERS and a premium upgrade as well!

So where do we go from here?

Honestly… still not really clear on that yet. But what I do know if our daily, MANUAL SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING campaign seems to be producing the most results with the least amount of work (blogging takes a lot of WRITING and TIME to produce traffic)… so we will start SCALING UP by AUTOMATING a massive social media campaign.

Not clear on what that looks like yet… but we are doing some deep research to find what may be most attraction to the audience we hope to attract.
